What a day!

Okay, for anyone who has known me for a while, they would know that I seem to be like the mishap magnet...drama just finds me somehow. So I couldn't make this up if I tried....
today at work there was a medical emergency and because I heard the shout out for someone to call 911, I jumped up into action to try to be helpful. So my boss calls 911, and I ran down to the receptionist desk to alert them of what was going on and volunteered to stick around to show the medics where to go. So everyone was being very proactive to get the medics there quicker so we sent people to the corner street to direct them in and people outside the building and there was a large delivery truck parked out front because he was there to reload the snack machines. So someone went to grab him to move his truck so the ambulance could pull right up front and he did, he backed it into the handicap spots and went back to finish his work upstairs. Well, just as we saw the ambulance coming down the street, the guys break in the truck gives way and the truck goes rolling out into the middle of the street and the lady waiting to waive in the ambulance jumps in front to try to stop it but thankfully realized it was a huge truck and jumped out of the way. The truck did stop but right in the middle of the road so the ambulance couldn't come through. So another lady goes running off to find him to come move his truck again and all the while I decided to open the elevator and hold it so it would be there when the medics come in. So I extend my arm out to hold the elevator and wasn't looking, rather looking outside to see what was going on with the truck and the ambulance and before I know it....my arm is closed up in the elevator door!!! It shut completely on my arm and no chance it was going to stop so I start yelling for help and I'm laughing hysterically at this point and the receptionist and a co-worker come and pry the door open to get me out. Ha! I always take the stairs in that building so little did I know the door doesn't really stop for anyone. ha! So my arm is still hurting at this very moment, I'm sure I'll have a bruise at least. But thankfully the guy in my office was fine and we didn't have anyone get hit by a truck and my arm wasn't broken and my hand wasn't ripped off. That doesn't make it any less exciting of a day though I'll tell you that! Only I could manage to get my arm shut in an elevator I know! HA!

1st baby sitter

We left the boys with a real baby sitter for the very first time on Saturday night. Some friends of our were having an adult game night / party and so we all decided to go and leave the kids (Matthew, Hunter, Kenzie and Keegan) here at our house with a sitter. Hunter and Matthew were so excited and Hunter asked all day "is it time for me to baby sit yet". ha! So when she arrived they loved her right away and so we felt good about leaving them...not to mention we were only going about 7 houses down the street...boy aren't we brave? ha! But we were gone from about 6-11 and when we got home I was excited to come in and see how things had gone and Hunter just burst into tears. She was freaking out saying "he wasn't crying until you just walked in the door really" and so I was talking to him and he says "you didn't stay gone long enough!" WOW! So then since he couldn't get us to leave again he asked if she could just stay with us in our spare room. ha! He literally cried for 20 minutes and I finally got him to calm down by promising we would leave him to "baby sit" again sometime soon. Now I can use that just as good as the Santa threat..."if you not good I'm not going to let you baby sit". ha! Anyway, after she had gone and I got Hunter to calm down mom called me to come upstairs. It was at that very moment we discovered just why the kids loved her so very much....the entire hall was packed with toys, sort of like a road block and you couldn't even take a step through the hall. Then the claw game that Hunter had gotten for being good at his allergy test, that was filled with candy when we left, only had 3 pieces left and the trash can was filled with candy wrappers! YIKES! She played games with them, "let us have diet coke", and let them eat candy in the forbidden zones of the house. Ha! Oh well, as long as they all had fun it was a fairly easy clean up...though I'm still finding candy wrappers in the playroom bins. ha!

Animal Kingdom...2/2/08

Okay, so our Disney passes have more than paid for their selves at this point, we're Disney junkies. We started off heading to Epcot but Kenzie wanted to go and couldn't because she had basketball so we decided to wait until she could go with us so then we decided on Animal Kingdom instead. We had a really good time, though we were only able to stay for a few hours. We went to the petting zoo and Hunter fell in love with the sheep and goats, we could barely get him out of there. He kept squatting down and putting his face really close to the sheep's face...I have no idea what he was doing but I wish I would have had my camcorder to be honest...I'll have to be sure to take it next time. Anyway, Brandon (Matthew's buddy) went with us and we rode Dinosaur, that's the boys' favorite ride. It's a bit scary and very dark and loud...Brandon said he liked it but I'm not so sure I believed him. ha! We had a great time, then we went to Rainforest Cafe to grab lunch and headed home.

Matt's lost another tooth...

Okay, so here's tooth #5 and I was so excited because I actually pulled it out. I never even pulled my own teeth when they were lose when I was little but I some how got the courage just to give it a yank and it really wasn't that bad at all...I'm thinking I'm ready to be a dentist...okay, that's a stretch but I did tell Matthew he had to share his tooth fairy cash for my dental fees! Ha!

Aikens Family came to visit.

To our surprise, our friends (who used to live in VA) from TX were in Orlando when we returned from our visit to VA so we were lucky enough to get the chance to go spend the day with them at Disney and have dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Matthew and Dallin were great buddies and it was so nice to see them together, they just picked right up where they had left off. It's been more than 2 years since they've seen one another but neither of them really changed at all, just got taller and lost a few teeth. Ha! Dallin's little sister Olivia had grown a bunch since we last saw her though, but she warmed up to us in no time. She and Hunter had fun riding and playing together too. We had a great time with them and I wish we could have spent more time, but like all our visits with friends...it just wasn't long enough. They had to catch a very early plane the next morning and the boys had school so we ended up heading home around 8pm after dinner. We hope to make a trip to TX to visit them sometime soon as well, but hope they will come back to FL to visit again sometime too!

thanks to all our friends for a wonderful time!

As much as we hated to leave all our friends we had to come back home. We were sad but at the same time excited to be home and the kids were really looking forward to seeing daddy. Of course we had a bad flight back. We had gone to grab something to eat right in front of our gate at Max and Erma's and it literally took an hour to get our food so we just boxed it up so we wouldn't miss our fligth and rushed over to our gate. We got there only to find out they had changed gates on us without posting or announcing anything. So we ran to the other end of the terminal thinking we would miss our flight and when we got there found out it was an hour and a half delayed! I was so angry, I can't even tell you. I paid $40 for a quesadilla and chicken for the kids that I had to eat from a styrofoam box on an airport floor...ugh! The flight wasn't bad until the decent and both kids were crying from ear pain, I felt terrible and had no idea what to do for them other than tell them to keep chewing their gum and taking drinks of water. In all the flights we've ever been on neither kid has had ear pain and now on the same flight they both did...I was guessing it wasn't the kids. It was truly a horrible flight and I likely won't fly Jet Blue anymore....though Sean really likes that airline but I've flown them 3 times now and all 3 times I've been more than an hour delayed...the other 2 flights were actually more than about 5 hours delayed. Anyway, we made it home safe and sound which I guess is all that really matters and met a nice friend from NOVA that now resides in FL, not far from us so hopefully we can meet up and let our kids play sometime soon....always an adventure for me huh? Until my next post...

Our last day in VA

After we got back from Chuck E. Cheese, it was nice to sit and relax for just a bit and let the kids play a little more before we had to pack up and head to the airport. We were hanging downstairs and then we hear Dria calling out "help me" and go running up only to discover that she wasn't really in need of our help but was calling out for a Super Hero because "the Joker had captured her and tied her up so I need Spider Man to rescue me." So Hunter, oops...I mean Spider Man was there to make the rescue of his princess....just too cute!

Our last outing before going home...

It's not a trip to VA without fighting the crowds at Chuck E. Cheese right? Thanks so much to all my friends that braved the cold and ventured out into the extremely crowded kid jungle to come visit with us at Chuck E. Cheese. I didn't get to spend as much time with anyone as I had hoped but it was so nice to see everyone that came and though some couldn't make it we hope to see everyone when we come back in the summer. It's a bit easier to get out in the summer too, so we can go to the playgrounds and hang out.

More visitors...

We were so excited that our good friends Namita, Vanshika and Venu were coming over to visit us! The girls had grown so much, it's hard to believe all these kids could grow up and change so much in 6 months...looks like we need to visit a little more often for sure! The kids all played games and had a good time, of course I think Hunter was wearing down so he got a bit cranky at the end of the night and had to be put in time out. But other than that we had a great time visiting and again, of course we didn't get to visit with them long enough....we hope they will come visit us in FL soon!

Winter = Static

The kids all decided to have a campout, inside of course since it was arctic outside...I think on Sunday it was a high of 17 or something crazy. Anyway, when we looked inside the tents and saw Raymond and Dria we cracked up! The static look was a kodak moment for sure.

More fun in VA

While we were in VA we had to go back and visit our old bowling ally. I'm not sure the kids actually wanted to go out and do anything but I'm used to being on the go most of the time as most know, so I dragged everyone out to go bowling...Of course I think everyone in town had the same idea because there was a wait, but we just hung and and scratched lottery tickets and let the kids play in the spinning seats while we waited. We had a great time watching the kids bowl...they did a pretty good job, but I don't even remember who won.

Dinner with the Berliks...

While we were in VA we also got to visit some of our other great friends, the Berlik Family. They had us over for dinner. The kids were so excited to see one another and we finally got to meet the newest addition to their family, Baby Grady. We had a wonderful time but like all visits, just didn't get to spend enough time with our friennds. Here are some pictures of the kids enjoying each other's company though...the 3 amigos! We plan to have our very own summer camps this summer so hopefully all the kids can spend more time together at one another's house.
